Update: After being inactive far to long, and being away, I'm comming home! Definately looking forward scraping the cobwebs off this site editor.
Sometimes, as I realize I'm facing another long dark winter, I long for those warm balmy days and nights down south. But not on nights like these, when the Aurora Borealis glows in all its glory ....

Slik Pro 700DX tripod.

Just after the lunar eclipse, several intense waves rolled overhead in the space of about 3 hours.

More beautiful coronal hole fired auroras on several nights. Safety Sound, east of Nome provided excellent foreground scenery as the weather chased me away.

Beautiful strong substorms in a new season's first dark skies. The 1/2 moon remained hidden by low clouds.

Wonderful strong geomagnetic storms start off a new season on the 18th and the 20th in twilight.

Very nice vivid formations in early April, with moderate moonlight, and a hint of Alaska's growing twilight. My last session this season.

February - March 2003
More intense local substorms during full moon, and again with no moonlight. The inevitable winter snows have forced me back toward town. Fuji Superia 800 and 400 films.
23 December 2002.
For all of about 1 minute, this otherwise "moderate" storm rivaled the best aurora I've seen. (Taken during 80% full moon)

3 modest meteors in 2001, Zero in 2002,
(but some very nice auroras in overcast skies during the full moon).

5 November 2001.
Severe level geomagnetic storm fired by a high energy proton flare and Earthward directed CME. Best auroras I've seen to date.

October 2001.
Beautiful storm level auroras during full moon on the 1st.
Nice coronal hole fired auroras on the 14th.
Storm level auroras in almost fully overcast skies on the 22nd.

26 September 2001, G2 level storm
Between the cloudy / hazy skies and overall
auroral glow everywhere, it was difficult to photograph
the details. This short page covers about 7 intense minutes on a single roll of Fuji Superia 800.
23 September G1 level storm.
Another great high-latitude storm that also sparked nice auroras throughout northern Europe.
