Aurora Borealis, Nome Alaska
AuroraPage11: Photos taken during the severe level geomagnetic storm of 5-6 November 2001. A high energy proton flare and earth-directed CME triggered this incredible event that was seen as far south as Florida.
This first roll (#3189_x) was taken while the southwest sky was still light, and the blue-sky sunset mingles with the auroral glow. The entire series faces east-west and south. 18:45 - 22:30 local time.

Nikkor 28mm @ f1.4, Fuji Superia 800, Provia 400F, Kodak Portra 800, Royal Gold 400.films.

(After moonrise)
This is the most vivid-red aurora event I've seen, as these direct  "transparancy" scans of a couple negatives show.
