Aorora Borealis, Nome Alaska
AuroraPage13: Early morning 19 August 2002 in strong twilight. An M5 class solar flare occured on our sun and the subsequent coronal mass ejection arrived early the 18th at a time mostly of benefit to the folks in Europe, but a nice surge of activity came during the 1+ hour of useful darkness while I waited outside.

11 September 2002.  Beautiful show tonight. Coronal hole-fired displays here in Nome (at moments) often rival the finest CME induced storms.
02:00 - 05:30am, Nikkor 28mm, 10 & 13 seconds on Superia 800 film.
September 17th. Continued effects from the coronal hole as the high solar winds persist. At 04:00 local time / 12:00 UT a clearly defind narrow arc low to the north suddenly exploded into the best displays I've seen this season.
Nikkor 28mm/f1.4, Superia 800, 8 - 10 seconds.
