Aurora movies from April 2000 Nome, Alaska |
These clips are REALTIME video taken with a handheld Sony 8mm Handycam. (0-lux, Manual focus) Each 30 second segment was taken directly from the tape using an analog video capture card without enhancement or skipped frames. |

Typical of movies taken in realtime, they don't do justice to the colors present, but they do demonstrate the intense activity and beautiful patterns that come and go, in the blink of an eye. You can imagine the challange in getting detailed photographs, even when using the faster 800 films. |

In Internet Explorer, right-click on the frame, and select Save Target As... to save to disk. In Netscape, [Shift]-click on the frame, to save to disk. Open the saved file and view with your default .mpg or .m1v viewer. (Windows Media Player or Realplayer both work well). --or-- Click (in Netscape) a frame to load & view in a new popup window. I.E. does not seem to work in this fashion. |

This clip doesn't end in a generated fade-out. The intense activity literally vanished as I was zooming in on a wonderful formation! |

This page is in progress. I'll be adding a bit more video to fill in the gaps soon, and adding smaller files for dialups, etc... |
